How did this happen? It all started when I called the local county clerk’s office to find out how the paperwork for my father in law’s estate is progressing . It is taking a long time.
Remember when we were doing an estate sale? Sold some things but the big items we did not sell.
There are many people who have been lowballing me on items I know are worth more than they said it was. I resolve to make a list of the people who are the devil as far as I’m concerned to take advantage of people who have lost someone and are stuck with their stuff.
Now we’re going to have to donate. You wouldn’t believe how slow people are when you called them up and ask them when are you going to have a truck to pick this stuff up. Next month said one St. Vincent Depaul charity. Next Tuesday said another in a singsongy voice. So many of these charity delivery and pick up people sit on their asses missing very good stuff that gets thrown out.
Futz brains. Sloooooooooow. Waiting for a homeless shelter I’ve been trying to reach for four days I have left four messages on her voicemail. I’m trying to donate at least six or seven items of furniture to their cause. I left the email that was very detailed and told her where to find me where to get where and how to pick this up.
At this rate, doubt I will be donating to their cause they have to tomorrow to get back with me.
But there has been a medium list of people who are reliable and helpful. That is very short list but it is there.
Hats off to Mr. Shane at Goodwill in Tampa for setting up a time to pick up Mom and Pop’s washer and dryer old fridge and calling me back in a timely manner.
So we are moving after figuring out that the back-and-forth 40 miles round-trip every other day on two sides of a large large metropolitan area is next to impossible. We need to renovate this house and the lawn needs to be mowed. So, being where we are for the last 16 years, we needed a change. We also got sick of paying rent.
We are moving. Period.
